You've probably had that "what am I missing." moment after watching someone melt a World Boss while your own hits barely move the bar. I've been there. The game buries you in percentages, and it's easy to chase whatever looks biggest on paper. Even before you start hunting Diablo 4 Items cheap or swapping gear around, it helps to know the one rule that actually changes your damage: not all bonuses behave the same once they're in the formula.

Additive Versus Multipliers
Most "+% damage to X" lines are additive. They feel good, but they mostly just join a big shared pile with your other "+%" bonuses. So adding another 40% often doesn't act like a true 40% jump. That's why your damage can feel stuck. What you really notice are true multipliers, the ones shown with an "x". Those don't politely join the pile. They scale the whole result. Stack a couple of real multipliers and suddenly your build wakes up. It's not magic. It's just the math finally working in your favor.

Aspects, Rolls, and Where You Socket Them
A lot of players (me included, early on) slap on any Aspect that seems "close enough." That's a trap. Many Aspects roll across a wide range, and the low end can be painfully weaker than the high end. You can clear content with a mediocre roll, sure, but you'll feel the ceiling fast. Placement matters just as much. Put a strong damage multiplier on a slot with no bonus and you're leaving power behind. Move that same Aspect onto a two-handed weapon and it gets doubled. Put it on an amulet and it's boosted by 50%. If you only fix one thing tonight, fix this: make your best multiplier sit in the slot that magnifies it.

Paragon Discipline and the Glyph Breakpoint
The Paragon board is where good builds turn into scary ones, but it rewards discipline. Don't wander for "nice stats" if they're not feeding your plan. Path efficiently, unlock your Glyph sockets quickly, then build around the radius. And yeah, Glyph levels matter more than people like to admit. Level 46 is a real breakpoint for a lot of endgame setups, because that's where the bigger bonuses start kicking in. If yours are stuck around the teens, your character is basically running on training wheels. Once you push those levels, the same gear suddenly looks way better.

Double-Dips and Smart Shopping
Keep an eye out for stats that pull double duty. Main stat that boosts skill damage while also meeting a passive requirement. Conditional damage that's almost always "on" in your build. Stuff like that adds up in a way raw additive lines never will. If you want to speed up the gearing side without wasting nights on bad rolls, treat it like a checklist: multipliers first, then perfect placement, then Paragon efficiency.
